About Rock
Rock is a renowned Cornish holiday resort, located on the east side
of the Camel estuary, close to the Atlantic coast. People love Rock because it has avoided the excesses of commercial
exploitation associated with most British holiday resorts. You wont find burger bars and slot-machine gambling arcades in
Rock - only quality restaurants, pubs and cafes . It has excellent golf courses (St Enodoc and Rosorrow), sailing,
windsurfing, water-skiing, access to rural and coastal walks and cycling, and a fine choice of good restaurants, pubs, and
leisure clothing shops. The famous beach at Daymer bay with its sandy shore and dunes is ideal for
children and for windsurfers whilst the beach at Polzeath provides excellent surfing. The picturesque fishing
village of Port Isaac, featured in the TV series Doc Martin and renowned for its lobster and crab, is a short drive away. Padstow,
famed for the restaurants and shops of TV chef Rick Stein is a quick ferry-ride away. Wadebridge, with a cinema
and good selection of shops and restaurants, including two curry houses, is a 5-mile drive away. The Camel cycle
trail from Padstow to Bodmin can be accessed from Wadebridge where bicycles may be hired.
Rock is a good base for touring Cornwall with its plethora of old fishing ports, outstanding gardens, beaches,
historic houses and children’s theme parks.
